During the upgrading of El Dorado Airport in Bogota (Colombia), the highest occupational health and safety (OH&S) requirements were set for suppliers. At the time, companies were obliged to raise their standards in order to take part in the works that enhanced El Dorado to become one of the most modern airports in Latin America. Our legal counsel and OH&S consulting enabled full compliance of one of the most relevant companies for the overall aeronautics operation in Bogota, Colombia.

Our client is a company that develops and operates technology and information systems crucial for airports in Colombia, as well as in multiple airport operations around the world. The company's technology is used, among others, in check-in systems, baggage reclaim carousels, and overall optimization of resources available at airports.

By developing and implementing the company's Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS), the following objectives were achieved:

Performance according to quantifiable metrics that ensured continuous improvement of the health and safety conditions of workers in the airport.

Legal and OH&S compliance according to local regulations and applicable industry standards, as well as endorsement by the construction consortium in charge of El Dorado’s refurbishments, which allowed the company to integrate its technological advancements to the airport’s operation.

Improvement of the company's OHSMS, based on a GAP analysis and a thorough audit, which provided the roadmap to comply with the relevant standards and thus ensure operational continuity.

Safe work procedures (SWPs), process safety management, and proper training programs were set in place to abide with the legal and OH&S requirements set by the construction consortium and local authorities.
